Finally, this post is all kinds of fun for me because I LOVE Valentine’s Day. I love the love holiday. Its so fun to get a little girly for a day with my creativity, and I just love loving on my hubby, friends, and family.

When I was young, my mom would get all of us kids a fun, Valentine’s Day gift that we’d wake up to on Valentine’s morning. It usually consisted of a few chocolates and candy, a cute Valentine’s Day shirt to wear to school, and a small trinket. She was my first Valentine! I hope I can make our kiddos feel special and loved like that.

I also love DIY sugar scrubs. They are so easy to make and are great for your skin, especially this time of year. This would be a sweet, handmade gift for your gal pals this Valentine’s Day. You can also just make it for yourself with any roses you get, after you’ve let them dry.

Why DIY Sugar Scrubs?

If I haven’t convinced you yet that sugar scrubs are amazing, let me keep trying. Here are a few of my favorite reasons why you should be making all kinds of DIY sugar scrubs.

  1. DIY sugar scrubs will exfoliate your skin and help with dead skin.
  2. Sugar scrubs are very moisturizing and help with dry skin.
  3. You can make your DIY sugar scrub with all natural ingredients.
  4. You can scent and color your scrub however you like!
  5. They make great, handmade gifts for friends and family.
  6. They are very inexpensive to make compared to store-bought sugar scrubs
  7. DIY sugar scrubs are SO easy to whip together.

With this particular sugar scrub, the special addition is dried rose petals. Rose petals can be amazing for your skin with their anti-aging properties. They also have a really pretty, all natural smell.

DIY Rose Sugar Scrub Ingredients

1 cup sugar

1/3 cup oil (almond oil, coconut oil, olive oil, etc.)

dried rose petals (THIS is the kind I used, you can also substitute with your own dried roses or any dried roses that have not been chemically treated)

15-20 drops essential oils of choice (of course Rose Essential Oil is preferred, but you can add in whatever oils you prefer that are beneficial to skin and smell great).

DIY Rose Sugar Scrub Instructions

Combine the sugar, oil, and dried rose petals in a small bowl. Mix until smooth and combined. Add in your essential oils of choice and mix well. Store in an airtight container. To use, rub gently on skin in the shower and rinse well. If gifting to a friend, adorn with a ribbon, fabric, and handmade tag.

I transferred my sugar scrub into a small mason jar, added a little bit of pink tulle with a clear elastic, and all done! You could also use a rose patterned fabric topper, ribbon, burlap, twine, etc. Save it for yourself or gift it to your gal pals on Valentine’s Day!

If you get fresh roses for Valentine’s Day or any other special day, just dry them out and use the dried petals in this recipe. Be sure that your roses haven’t been treated with any chemicals so that they’re safe to use on your skin. A blender or food processor will help to break them up into smaller pieces.

I really liked the dried rose petals I picked up on Amazon HERE because they were all natural, and they were already broken down into the perfect size pieces. I only used a small amount for this recipe so I’m excited to find more uses for the rose petals in the future!
