What do vegans eat at Halloween?
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays for many reasons, not least of which is the food! Who doesn't love a smorgasbord of tasty fall grub and the inevitable grab bag of sweet treats? Nobody, that's who. The fact that many of the delicious dishes are often dressed up in costume just makes it all the more fun.
So what do vegans eat at Halloween? How about we start with sweet potato, butternut squash and pumpkin flavored everything - pasta, soup, and pot pies are just the beginning! I mean, orange is half of the Halloween color story, right?
There are also about a gazillion tasty recipes for vegan dips and finger foods (sans real fingers) to start off your night. I also assembled plenty of ghoulish vegan desserts to munch on after you dance the Monster Mash.
Oh, and feel free to drink all the boo's - oops! I mean booze - that you want. Cauldrons full of creepy co*cktails are a great way to get those un-dead corpses cackling. And really, what's a party without a batch of witch's brew to get you in the spirit? (See what I did there? LOL)
Oh, and if you're wondering what to offer the mob of trick-or-treat-ers? I have a whole list of vegan friendly candies listed below. So let's get this party started, shall we??
Is any Halloween candy vegan?
Yes! Halloween goodies aren't just for flesh-eating zombies (or omnivores). There are plenty of packaged treats that are perfectly plant based. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Air Heads
- Twizzlers
- Swedish Fish
- Justin's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
- Sweet Tarts
- Jolly Ranchers
- Sour Patch Kids
- Skittles
- Fun Dip
- Blow Pops
- Smarties
- Dots
